by Ken Tuccio I really hope people nowadays still use Christmas Stockings for more than decorative purposes. In my humble opinion, one of the best parts of Christmas morning is waking up and finding a bunch of little presents stuffed inside an oversized piece of laundry. It brought a smile to my face many times when I was a child, and thinking about it now still causes me to crack a childlike grin. I loved rummaging through that big red sock, finding cruddy bubble gum, paperback books that I’d never get around to reading, eggs of Silly Putty, and the occasional package of gold-foil covered chocolate coins. Seriously, those chocolate coins were amazing. Stockings were, and still should be, a Christmas tradition. I truly hope that children of today are able to experience the innate joy that comes from finding small presents protruding from a sock hanging over the fireplace, especially when companies still design products specifically as stocking stuffers; products like this …
The Play-Doh Holiday Pack. While the light beaming through my living room windows is preventing me from taking a glare-free photo of this candy-cane shaped plastic tubed packaging, take my word for it when I say this packaging is awesome. The Play-Doh Holiday Pack consists of 10 mini-tubs of Play-Doh, packaged in a plastic tube that’s made to look like a Christmassy candy cane. I’m a 26 year-old guy with a full time job and adult-esque responsibilities, and I can say with complete honesty that even at my age I’d be excited about receiving this on Christmas morning. Not only is this Play-Doh, which will forever be the best playable compound on the market, but also it’s packaged in a Christmassy way. It’s impossible not to be in the Christmas spirit when you see Play-Doh packaged in a candy-cane shape, as the candy cane shape evokes yule-tide cheer in a manner that no other chape can. Heck, just seeing this on the store shelves made me want to resurrect the corpse of Bing Crosby so that we can sing an undead duet of Santa Claus Is Coming To Town together. The great thing about this Christmas themed Play-Doh stocking stuffer is that it doesn’t skimp on the product. For the low price of $2.99 you get one heck of a lot of doh to play with, to demonstrate this, I’ve set up this photo comparing the massive amount of Play-Doh included in this cane to former ECW superstar Lance Storm …
Sure, that may not seem impressive to the naked eye, but bear in mind that Lance Storm is 6ft tall. I’m not going to go into detail about how awesome Play-Doh is, because that’s been documented for decades. It’s the king of playable compounds, and it always will be. College thesis papers could be written about the awesomeness of Play-Doh; I’m not sure what subject that would fit in with, but I’m confident it could be done. The Christmas traditionalist inside of me truly hopes that small children are waking up on December 25th to find this candy cane filled with Play-Doh stuffed in their stocking. It warms my heart to think that young kids are spending their Christmas days the same way I did during my youth; eating reindeer shaped cookies, drinking mugs of hot chocolate, and making bright orange penis shaped statues out of Play-Doh. That’s
what Christmas is all about. |
